It’s clear that square buckets utilize more of a given space than round buckets. Knowing exactly by how much is useful if you’ll be storing a large volume of food, equipment or emergency supplies in a limited space.

SD Card Storage
When you buy nails, screws, hooks or many other types of hardware, pay attention to the case they come in. This compartmentalized organizer can be used to store all your flash memory so you’ll never lose it again!
I emptied the above box of nails years ago, and I’ve employed the case in holding all the USB and SD flash memory I’ve accumulated since.
Paint Roller Storage
Compared to even a large paintbrush, using a roller is such an easy way to paint a large area! Especially if you paint your walls flat on the ground before nailing them up.
But rolling comes with its own set of drawbacks. The biggest is that your rollers can dry out and become practically unusable if stored improperly. Painting with a crusty roller is like trying to brush your teeth the wrong end of a toothbrush – frustrating and pointless.
Saving and Using Leftover Coffee
It’s easy to overlook coffee when it costs just pennies a mug. But consider: for each cup, a coffee bean and 99 of its cousins must journey halfway around the world to be hulled, roasted and ground. The water must be purified to historic levels, heated, then dripped through. So it’s a damn shame when even part of that effort gets washed down the drain.

Review: Five Gallon Pack as a Harvest Pail
I’ve had the opportunity recently to test out the new Five Gallon Pack around the farm. The owner of the company was kind enough to send us one to use for testing, promising we would find use for it.
The pack is popular with outdoor enthusiasts of all sorts – anglers, hunters, spelunkers and prospectors.
My hands were made more for typing so I found a more domestic use for it – harvesting this year’s sizable tomato crop. Continue reading
