If you’re a hunter, you already know that a 5 gallon bucket is an essential piece of equipment.
Just look at all these advantages a bucket has over inferior backpacks, a wheelbarrow, or a pack mule.
- Waterproof
- Sturdy
- It’s a seat
- and best of all, it’s a bucket
You’ll likely be sitting for hours so you’ll also want to rest your royal ass in comfort. I like a seat with lumbar support myself, but the padded seats are much more compact.
Top 23 Hunting Bucket Items
Here’s a list of 23 hunting items I wouldn’t leave without. Make sure you check off at least the top 10:
- Binoculars
- Decoys
- Duck whistle
- Flashlight
- Pocketknife
- Gutting knives
- Water bottle
- Bug Repellent
- Camouflage clothing
- Sharpening stone
- Pair of extra socks
- Matches
- First aid kit
- Paper maps for if your GPS fails (my favorite by far are the backroad map guides)
- Compass
- Hunter’s License
- Pencil
- Ammunition
- Bow or a gun
- Wire cutter
- Pruner
- Rain Gear
- Toilet Paper
Don’t overstock your hunter’s bucket, you can’t fit a whole butcher’s shop in 20 liters, and you can’t afford to make it overly burdensome if you are traveling miles through the woods. Splitting the weight with a buddy is recommendable.
Also, consider your prey. If you hunt large game you’ll need to include a bone saw. Adjust the checklist to meet your individual needs.
